'Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash' Characters & Release Date: Trailer Released, Shows New Characters Including Sprixie [Video]

A new character from "Super Mario 3D World" will be arriving in Nintendo soon. This new character will be joining the roster, which will be taking the court in "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash." Who is the new character?

The new playable character in "Mario Tennis Ultra Smash" will be no other than the Green Sprixie Princess, the character who received the most screen time in "Super Mario 3D World," according to Siliconera.

The new character comes with her own trailer. This is not surprising as Nintendo has been regularly releasing trailers with each video featuring a new character per Destructoid.

Check out the following short clip with the green fairy showing her moves in her match against Donkey Kong.

So, for gamers who have a soft spot for floating characters in "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" another playable character will be added on your list. With Sprixie joining the roster, the lineup now will be:

  • Mario
  • Luigi
  • Toad
  • Peach
  • Daisy
  • Rosalina
  • Bowser
  • Wario
  • Waluigi
  • Yoshi
  • Boo
  • Donkey Kong
  • Toadette
  • Bowser Jr.
  • Dry Bowser
  • Sprixie

"Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" is a natural evolution from its solid entry "Mario Tennis Open" according to a preview from Nintendo Life. The title has a perfect frame-rate. It also comes with an impressive improvement in physics and stoke play.

The upcoming title features a strong presentation from its chunky and colourful visuals, which is often the case with first-party Wii U games. It comes with 60 fps, which is pleasant to the eyes. It also features superficial effects that add more joy and excitement to the gameplay.

However, the gamer finds something that is potentially a point against the game. "The volume of content is one of the weakest we've seen in a retail game," the report suggested.

Also, it has no motion controls. "In theory as there's an X 'simple shot' button, motions could have been thrown in; yet they're nowhere to be found. It's conventional controls only on the GamePad, Wii U Pro Controller, a sideways Remote or the Classic Controller / Pro."

"Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" has the following modes according to Pixelkin, Knockout Challenge, Mega Battle, Classic Tennis and Online Multiplayer. For gamers who are fond of amiibo, you can use it in Knockout Challenge and Online Multiplayer modes as your companion in double tennis.

"Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash" will be arriving in North America and Europe on Wii U on Nov. 20, Always Nintendo reported. For those who wanted to pre-order a digital copy of the game, it is available from Nintendo's online store for only $49.99.
