Thanksgiving 2015: 5 Easy Recipes The Kids Will Enjoy

Thanksgiving is a great time for family to bond together. However, more than just preparing the turkey which dad will love and the table setting that will put a wide smile on mom's face, kids should have some treats that they will enjoy, too.

To help you prepare kids' snacks for thanksgiving, here are some recipes rounded up for you. Happy Thanksgiving!

Turkey Nuggets

Courtesy of Parenting, this version makes for a good snack or side dish.

Using a small, round cookie cutter, cut out little turkey medallions from leftover turkey. Dip them in a mixture of milk and honey, then dip in bread crumbs, then set them on a baking pan.

Broil them on low until slightly golden. Serve with honey or honey mustard sauce.

Crunchy Chickpea Snacks

If your kids like crunchy food, this will be a healthy appetizer or snack.

Drain a can of garbanzo beans (chickpeas) and pat dry with a paper towel. Toss in a bowl, drizzled with some olive oil and a little salt. Line in olive oil-sprayed baking pan, and bake in 400 for about 30 minutes. Toss every 10 minutes to avoid burning. Let cool.

”Ice Cream” Mashed Potatoes

A great side dish that will make your kids eat more potatoes.

Peel, cube and boil 3 medium sweet potatoes for a sweet flavor, and mix with 2 Tbsp. Creamer, 2 Tbsp. maple syrup, 1 Tbsp. brown sugar and half a teaspoon vanilla as you mash.

For red or white potatoes, use 6 red or 3 medium white potatoes. Mash after boiling, mixing in 3 Tbsp. milk and 2 Tbsp. sour cream or plain Greek Yogurt. Add salt to taste.

For chocolate-flavored potatoes, use white potatoes, then mix with 1 Tbsp. milk and 1 Tsp. hot chocolate mix.

You can scoop these using an ice cream scoop or melon scoop, and serve them on a flat-bottomed ice cream cone.

Oreo Turkeys

Courtesy of NcMysteryShopper on Food, this is a sweet treat for kids.

Take one Oreo apart, for the base. Place a whole Oreo on its side on top of the base Oreo's white filling.

On one side of the standing Oreo, place a malted milk ball for the “Turkey head.” Place candy corn (pointing down) on the standing Oreo's side filling. These will serve as “tail feathers” when looking at the cookie. Use icing for eyes.

Cute Edible Apple Turkey

This is fun to make. You can even let your kids join in.

First, for the tail feathers, take some raisins or Fruit Loops and slide them on toothpicks up to about three-fourths the way down. You'll need 6-7 of these, depending on the size of the apple. Stick them to the “back” of the apple.

For the head, slide some raisins, then a green olive, down another toothpick. Use cloves for eyes. Stick it in the “front” part of the apple. Insert three toothpicks under the “turkey” body to make it stand.
