'Halo 5: Guardians' Update: Battle of Shadow and Light Update Includes Team Battles, New Maps & More! -- Details Here!

Several gamers were pleased when finally the anticipated game "Halo 5" was released. However, the team working behind the game has a lot of surprises in store for their gamers as they announced the first expansion of the title.

The first free expansion for "Halo 5: Guardians" is called, "Battle of Shadow and Light" and it comes with several features that gamers will surely love. In their official website, 343 Industries warned the players that the next time they login they will be prompted to download this update.

The update will feature the following:

  •  48 new REQs including new armors, helmets, weapon skins, weapon and vehicle variant, a new visor and assassination, and new emblems
  •  Big Team Battle playlist to Arena matchmaking
  •  BTB (Big Team Battle) has three modes: capture the flag, strongholds, and slayer to matchmaking and custom games. Here's the specification of each mode:
    •  BTB CTF - you need to win 3 captures to win
    •  BTB Strongholds - you need 150 points to win
    •  BTB Slayer - you need 100 points to win

The update will also feature 4 new BTB maps, which are available for both matchmaking and custom games:

  •  Basin by the 343 Multiplayer team
  •  Deadlock by Nokyard & the 343 Multiplayer Team
  •  Guillotine by The Psycho Duck & the 343 Multiplayer Team
  •  Recurve by The Fated Fire & the 343 Multiplayer Team

According to GameSpot, the maps were inspired from the previous "Halo" games.

The update also comes with tweaks, fixes, or changes such as:

  •  Developers fixed the aiming issue that could occur due to variance in controller hardware
  •  Improved Warzone Assault, which includes faster REQ leveling, decreased base capture from 20 seconds before to 16 seconds now, and reduced starting grenade count to 1
  •  Disabled Friendly Fire in SWAT
  •  Increased respawn time from 1 second to 3 seconds in SWAT
  •  New "deliver" nav point for vehicle drivers with friendly flag carrier as a passenger
  •  Fixed an issue where players can use the driver and gunner seats while holding the flag. The flag carrier will now only be able to sit in the passenger seat
  •  Improved post-game-carnage-report consistency.

This free update is something all gamers should get the soonest especially that it is just free. GameSpot stressed that this is the first of "many" free updates that 343 Industries has been plotting to launch for "Halo 5." The report suggested that gamers can still look forward to more than 15 free multiplayer maps by next summer. For those who want more, Forge tools will be available in December.
