Pregnancy Announcement: Creative Ways to Announce You're Having a Baby

Announcing that you are pregnant is a special moment and you would certainly want to make this a memorable one, regardless if this is your first or fifth baby. Seeing the reactions of your friends and family is one of the best parts to telling the world you're having a baby. Below are just some creative ways you can do this so that the moment will become a lasting memory:

1) Make it fun with games.

Cafe Press has custom made pregnancy jigsaw puzzles, but you can also do one using craft or scrapbooking materials. "When I found out I was pregnant with our first, I gave my husband a puzzle to put together that said, 'Congratulations on your new arrival!' As he held the last piece in place, he dropped it and started crying," said mom Cyndee. "With our second, I bought orange construction sign scrapbook stickers and wrote 'Baby on Board.' I placed two of them on my belly, then had our 3-year-old lift up my shirt for Daddy to see."

2) Use digital media.

You can ask for the baby's heartbeat recording from your doctor and then create a video or audio of this when you're ready to tell your friends and family about the baby. "My hubby put together a video of us hearing the heartbeat for the first time with music playing. I was on the phone with my mom and told her I emailed her a song I wanted her to hear. So she was listening to it then bam, the video shows us talking and hearing baby's heartbeat," said mom Heather Bowers.

3) Distribute gifts or tokens.

If you're announcing the pregnancy this holiday season, why not do it with a holiday-themed and pregnancy-related ornament? A personalized baby-in-a-manger or a baby snowflake bauble from Ornament Shop would be a perfect representation, per Mom Fuse.

4) Make it funny.

Some couples do fun photoshoots for the baby announcements, with costumes, makeup and an elaborate set-ups which are either inspired by movies or pop culture references. For inspirations, check out some of the funniest examples from Mom.Me

5) Surprise everyone during a family shoot.

With families gathering together for Thanksgiving or Christmas, you could probably do the announcement while everyone's seated for the family photo. But instead of saying, "Cheese!" have everyone say, "(Your Name) is having a baby!" Be quick with the camera and capture the family's reaction right there.
