'Lara Croft Go' Expands With Free 'The Shard of Life' on Android & iOS! Price Cut, DLC Features & More

iOS and Android mobile gamers who enjoy "Lara Croft Go" received wonderful news from Square Enix on Thanksgiving day as the company announced it has just dropped a free expansion content and also initiated a price cut for first-time purchasers.

Engadget reported that the gaming company has released the "The Shard of Life" expansion for free to download on the apps and it's one that fans of the game have been really grateful for as Square Enix generously offered the following features:

- 26 new puzzles that can be accessed in the Cave of Fire, which is a completely new location gamers will enjoy exploring.
- 1 new mechanic, which has the ability to influence and change enemy behaviors
- 2 new collectible artifacts
- 2 new costumes
- New sets of gems to discover, including the obsidian stones
- New achievements to unlock.

Square Enix has also added a new snapshot feature to "Lara Croft Go" as well as enhanced language selection and the addition of Traditional Chinese support language.

In addition to the early holiday gifts, the gaming company has initiated a 40 percent price cut for "Lara Croft Go" for a limited period. If it was previously sold at $4.99, those who want to try the game on their mobile phones for the first time can get it now for $2.99 only.

For the whole week following Thanksgiving, "Lara Croft Go" can also be streamed on Twitch, allowing more players to meet, play and work together to complete the tasks in-game. Per Gamespot, a similar idea also ran for "Pokémon" on Twitch last year.

"Lara Croft Go" was first launched in August 2015 with 75 puzzles, per App Advice. The gameplay is based on "Hitman Go" and it is an exciting brain teaser that has players navigating through puzzles, while collecting artifact and surviving encounters with creatures, traps and bombs.

Critics like The Appzine gave the game a rating of 100 percent and described it as "a good puzzle for a big fan of Tomb Raider series," per Metacritic. "Lara Croft GO is a very interesting take on the Tomb Raider concept. Its puzzle and adventure mix works really well on mobile, no matter if you've played any Tomb Raider game before," said another critic's review from Vandal Online in the same report. Users have likewise generally given the game high marks and positive feedback.
