Kim Kardashian Baby News: Reality Star Goes on 'Painful' Procedure to Turn Son's Breech Position

Kim Kardashian West, who is due to give birth to her second baby with husband Kanye West, revealed on Tuesday, Dec. 1, that she underwent a "painful" procedure to turn her baby boy's breech position, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star wrote a pregnancy update on her blog on Tuesday, saying that her soon-to-be-born son is now in its head-down position.

Kardashian wrote, "So I wanted to give you guys an update on my pregnancy since my last post. This weekend, I checked into the hospital and underwent a procedure called an ECV (External Cephalic Version, or a Version), which is done to manually turn the baby from a breech position to a head-down position. They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby."

Us Weekly previously reported that Kardashian was concerned about his son's breech position because he should've turned by 32 weeks. The reality star thought that she needed to get a C-section for the delivery, until researching alternatives on how to give birth to a breech baby.

"I've surrendered to the placenta issues and actually haven't been thinking too deeply about them lately. However, my latest concern is that my baby is breech, meaning he's in the wrong position for childbirth. His head is still up and it's supposed to be down. He was supposed to turn by 32 weeks. So now, I will have to get a C-section. Or so I thought!" Kardashian wrote in another blog post titled "Heads Up!" on Nov. 24.

Kardashian, who is in her 37th week of pregnancy, also said that she doesn't really want to have a C-section, but for the baby's safety, she will do it. Luckily, the procedure went well and the second-time mom does not need to have a C-section. She announced the good news last Tuesday on her blog, saying, "It worked!!! My baby is in the right position and it feels so good to not have the stress of thinking I need a C-section. I'm so thankful for my doctors!"

Los Angeles Times notes that apart from her son's previous breech position, Kardashian also has a cold and is suffering from a sinus infection. Because of the reality star's condition, her eldest daughter, two-year-old North, had to stay with her cousins so that the two-time mom can get enough rest and recover.
