'Kingdom Hearts 2.8' PS4, Xbox One Release Date: Nomura Confirms Similar Gameplay Will Give 'A Taste' of 'Kingdom Hearts 3' -- What We Know So Far!

Several gamers can't wait to play the anticipated game "Kingdom Hearts 3." However, the game might still be several months away as Square Enix prepares for "Kingdom Hearts 2.8." So, what is the difference between the two games?

"Kingdom Hearts 2.8" is an HD-remastered collection of the popular "Kingdom Hearts" series. This is the successor of "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix." Square Enix announced this title in September 2015 and it will be available in 2016 for PlayStation 4 exclusively.

The announcement was not a big surprise considering that it has remastered the majority of the "Kingdom Hearts" saga, GameInformer reported. This title contains three key pieces. The collection includes "Dream Drop Distance" HD an enhanced console version of the 3D release. It also includes a new episode titled "Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage," starring Birth By Sleep's Aqua. Moreover, "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will continue the trend from previous collections of HD movies including "Kingdom Hearts X [ chi] Backcover" that sheds light on the Foretellers and the series' early history.

While many are drooling to get their hands on "Kingdom Hearts 3", you can experience the anticipated gameplay in "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" because both titles will have a similar gameplay as confirmed by director Tetsuya Nomura.

"It's not necessarily for getting feedback, but more about letting people get a taste of Kingdom Hearts III through introducing a small part of the game system," Nomura said about "Birth by Sleep 0.2."

Per MoviePilot, "Kingdom Hearts 3" will certainly be an arduous one. At the time, there are no hints as to how gamers can control Sora or what kind of Disney worlds and characters await us in the anticipated title.

These questions will soon be answered once "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will be released. As the report suggested, rather than simply allowing fans to catch up the story of "Kingdom Hearts" series in "Kingdom Hearts 3," the upcoming remastered collection will give gamers an insight and experience on what to expect in "Kingdom Hearts 3."

Many are wondering if "Dream Drop Distance" will also incorporate the elements and designs of "Kingdom Hearts 3," given that the team struggled to transport 3D's gameplay into PS4. Several fans are also looking forward to the new episode "Birth By Sleep 0.2" because, as Nomura hinted, it is in this game where gamers will find the strongest link of the two titles.

"Kingdom Hearts 2.8" will feature the same gameplay that one can expect from a regular "Kingdom Hearts" world. So, gamers will surely enjoy this collection.

If you want to play "Kingdom Hearts 3," you should get a test drive by getting "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter." This will be available at some point in 2016.
