Lollipops with the Flavor of Breast Milk Reach US Markets

Lollipops are a very common sweet treat available in a variety of flavors. However, a new flavor promises to take you back to childhood, by reminding you of the most basic foods in the early stages of growth - mother's milk.

A Texas-based candy company has introduced a unique lollipop for adults and kids alike - lollipops with the flavor of breast milk. Lollyphile's new breast-milk flavored lollipops hit the markets Monday.

"So in case anyone thought we were kidding a couple weeks ago, the newest flavor is Breast Milk & it is AMAZING," the company said in a statement posted on Facebook, Monday.

Owner of the company Jason Darling got the idea after watching the power of breast milk in calming down babies.

"I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, but it seems like all of my friends are having babies these days," Darling said in a news release, according to Mamapop. "Sure, the kids are all crazy cute, but what slowly dawned on me was that my friends were actually producing milk so delicious it could turn a screaming, furious child into a docile, contented one. I knew I had to capture that flavor."

The company has "already sold a few thousand dollars worth" of its breast milk flavored-lollipops within a short period, New York Daily News reported.

According to Darling, Lollyphile, which has more than 20 different flavored lollipops to its credit, achieved this by "tapping into a flavor" people started liking "before they even knew how to think."

"It's sad that so few people are able to remember this inherently wonderful flavor," Darling added to Mamapop. "It's a real shame that babies are so selfish, but you'll understand their unwillingness to share once you try one of these."

Lollyphile first announced its plans to introduce breast-milk flavored lollipops in May.  "Just FYI we should have a new flavor ready to go by early next week," a statement appearing on Facebook said. Eliminating concerns of containing actual breast milk in the product, they added:  "Lollyphile! No actual milk. We're all vegan, all the time."

To turn the actual flavor of breast milk into candies, the company's flavor specialists collected breast milk from mothers and conducted experiments until they could create a candy with the same flavor.

The breast milk lollipops can be purchased directly at the official website of Lollyphile, at costs ranging from $10, $24 and $58 for packs of 4, 12 and 36 pieces respectively.
