'Winds of Winter' Release Date: Book Out Spring Or Late 2016; George RR Martin On Writers Helping Him, 'I don’t see anyone else ever writing in that universe' [Rumors]

There is a nonstop talk about the anticipated book "The Winds of Winter." However, despite the clamor and the buzz fans made about the long overdue sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire," George RR Martin remains noncommittal as to when the book will be out.

The New Mexican author expressed his desire to finish the book before "Game of Thrones" Season 6 premieres. Unfortunately, HBO has already announced the airdate of the popular show and the release date of "The Winds of Winter" remains unknown up to this writing.

With the flow of events, the book might not be available any time soon. Parent Herald previously reported that "The Winds of Winter" could be out late of 2016 to early 2017. Jeff a.k.a. BryndenBFish disclosed that the "manuscript submission" to "published and on the shelves" takes 4-8 months.

Perhaps, fans are now thinking what if Martin asks the help of other authors. The 67-year-old celebrity author recently attended a book-signing event for "The Expanse" series written by James S.A. Cory, a pseudonym used by Daniel Abraham and Tyler Franck, per Inquisitr.

One fan asked Martin through his blog if he would allow Abraham and Franck to contribute to "A Song of Ice and Fire." His response was "Uh...no." When the fan prompted if other writers can contribute or if he wants the series to be his work alone forever, he answered: "I don't see anyone else ever writing (legally) in that universe."

The Sydney Morning Herald reported two years ago that Martin has no plans of getting other authors involve in his masterpiece. "Not while I'm alive," he said. "But eventually I will not be alive because Valar Morghulis - all men must men die."

Then, Martin suggested that, if his wife will survive him, he would allow her. "I don't think my wife if she survives me, will allow that either. But one thing that history has shown us is eventually these literary rights pass to grandchildren or collateral descendants, or people who didn't actually know the writer and don't care about his wishes. It's just a cash cow to them."

However, it seems that Martin had a change of heart. He is no longer open to having other persons get involve on his work.

On a separate note, Parent Herald reported that Daenerys might finally return to Westeros in "The Winds of Winter." However, her return may result in fire and blood. There are rumors that she may start another civil war which is probably worse than the last.
