Going On The Scale Everyday Adviced For Weight Loss, Researchers Reveal

Many people around the world, both with a healthy lifestyle and a less healthy one, always have a fear of stepping on the weighing scale. Weighing once self has become a big issue for hundreds of millions of people, especially that it significantly affects once perception of his or herself.

It is widely believed that weighing should be done on a weekly basis and not in a an everyday scenario. However, a recent study revealed that stepping on the weighing scale everyday might just help in weight loss more than weighing every week.

The number one reason for weighing oneself every week is due to the psychological damage weighing everyday might cause. However, the doctors who worked on the study believe that weighing everyday might be more help than it is credited for.

"Stepping on the scales should be like brushing your teeth," said David Levitsky, a professor of nutrition and psychology at Cornell University.

In the study, different groups of individuals were used as subjects. One of the groups is college freshmen assigned to weigh themselves every day for 12 weeks. The results of the college freshmen group were all positive; the group did not gain any weight.

Another group was overweight and obese gym members, which were instructed to weigh themselves every day for two years. The results came back with good news, showing that the group lost a significant amount of weight and then kept it off.

The study also gave out tips in properly weighing oneself every day, saying that weighing should be done on the same time every day. Morning is recommended to be the best time to weigh.

Another tip is to have a Wi-Fi scale, which will send the results to an app or website, helping the person track his or her weight.

Also, newer scales, which have the ability to calculate body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage is recommended.
