Emma Stone To Play A Villainess In An Upcoming Disney Movie: ‘Easy A’ actress In Talks Of Playing Cruella De Vil

The villain who is known for her obsession in capturing puppies in the movie 101 Dalmatians may come back to the big screen and this time, Emma Stone will play as the villainess. The script is being written by Kelly Marcel who handled Saving Mr Banks and the Fifty Shades Of Grey screenplay.

While casting Stone for this role may be way different than her previous roles, it would likely make her more of a huge celebrity than she already is, according to Daily Mail.

It is also reported that Andrew Gun will be the producer of the film; while Kristin Burr and Jessica Virtue are supervising for the studio. There has been no official statement yet in regards to its director but Disney is in full hopes in starting the production this year.

The story was first adapted by Disney in 1961 with the late Betty Lou Gerson. The animated film made a whopping $215 million at the box office.

The tale of the 101 Dalmatians made Cruella De Vil De Vil as one of the most popular villains in movies. Her character plays as a wealthy, fashion-obsessed heiress who wishes to use the skins of the Dalmatian puppies for a fur coat may suit Stone's bubbly character.

Disney is known for adapting stories into live-action films such as Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" in 2010 and "Maleficent" starring Angelina Jolie. The film company also made a huge success with the remake of "Cinderella" earlier this year and now with its new adaptations on "Tinkerbell," "Mulan," "Pinocchio," "Beauty and The Best" with Emma Watson as Belle.

In the year 1996, Disney released a live-action feature of the story produced by John Hughes and cast Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil who was the head of a fashion house. Her performance was applauded and returned to her character with a second movie called "102 Dalmatians" in the year 2000.

Meanwhile, Stone recently appeared in Cameron Crowe Comedy, "Aloha". She is also reported to star in Damien Chazelle's La La Land, in which she reunites with Ryan Gosling.
