The Advanced Personal Robot From Segway: More Details Here [VIDEO]

Segway announced in Los Angeles, at this year's edition of CES, that the company is looking forward to develop a new hoverboard robot.

The Segway Advanced Personal Robot is one part robot butler, one part hoverboard. Actually, the company is well-known exactly for its popular hoverboards. The Segway robot will allow its users to ride on its two wheels, but will also be able to answer the doorbell or carry groceries. Its owners could can attach arms or other accessories and turn the versatile robot into basically anything they need, according to online tech publication Wired.

Segway, Xiaomi and Intel are working together to build this rideable advanced personal robot. This is a long-term plan for the three companies, which are going to work with developers all over the world in order to design all its features. The Segway Advanced Personal Robot will be able to see in the dark and to respond to voice commands. The three high-tech companies strive to make it not only your personal assistant but also your best friend and companion.

Intel was showing a prototype at CES 2016 to demonstrate its Real Sense technology capable to detect and map in real time any environment. The Multiple sensors and cameras included in the Real Sense technology will enable this feature called Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, according to The Verge. The robot's abilities to track and follow will make it interesting for its future owners to take out for a ride. The built-in computer will be also able to react to the environment in real time.

Segway explained that the Advanced Personal Robot is modular. At Intel's booth at CES 2016 the robot had attached two little Lego-man looking arms. The visitors could also notice the prototype's Real Sense cameras and its blinky eyes on the screen.

Segway declared that in the second half of the year 2016 a developer kit available will become available for software engineers around the world who want to contribute to the design of the new robot.
