iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus Release Date & Price: New Apple Smartphones Now Waterproof? Other Specs Revealed! [VIDEO]

Rumors coming from South Korea, published in DigiTimes, said that the company Catcher Technology based in Taiwan will design a water-proof case for the next iPhone model from Apple. The rumors appeared for the first time in the Commercial Times, a Chinese-language publication.

Catcher Technology is among Apple electronics giant's largest smartphone chassis suppliers for its iPhones. As claimed by the news report, the next iPhone model from Apple will not be only water-proof but it will also incorporate in its case some new materials in order to hide the antenna. The rumors were also published in the specialized online publication Mac World UK.

The Commercial Times report claims that the antenna stripes will disappear completely from the next generation of iPhone 7. This task will be achieved by Apple's engineers through their patented technology called "Non-capacitive or radio-frequency transparent materials with anodized metal appearance." The Apple electronics giant received a patent for this technology in June 2015.

Apple models such as iPhone 6S and 6S Plus are already virtually water proof. The difference will consist with the fact that the new iPhone 7 will be completely water-proof. Apple may also use, as the report suggests, some composite new materials that will allow the thinnest ever design for the iPhone 7 among all the models launched to date by the American company. The next-generation smartphone could have a 6 to 6.5mm thin body, could come with an upgraded A10 SoC M10 motion co-processor and could feature a 3D touch.

According to the Commercial Times, in the first quarter of 2016 the shipments for iPhone might drop by 30 percent; however, Catcher's revenue will continue to grow for the first half of 2016. Catcher will achieve this goal through its consolidated revenues from non-Apple clients. Commercial Times report estimates these revenues at around 40 percent of Catcher's overall sale numbers.

The American electronics giant Apple usually launches its new-generation smartphones in September, so we still have to wait for the next nine months in order to confirm if the rumors are true or not.
