Nikon's 360-Degree Action Camera Unveiled: The KeyMission 360

For years, GoPro has been the king when it comes to action cameras, but Nikon wants to change that. In this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nikon introduced one of their latest gadgets in the form of theKeyMission 360 action camera.

Nikon's KeyMission 360 has a lot of features, which are not included in most if not all of its competitors. Not even the GoPro. According to Engadget, this action camera has the ability to shoot 360-degree video because of its aspherical lens. The quality of the KeyMission is exceptionally high as well, allowing users to take gorgeous shots in 4k resolution.

Aside from those features, it also has built-in electronic image stabilisation to help with those shaky action-packed shots. It also has a waterproof shell, which allows you to take it with you almost anywhere. The KeyMission 360 is the "first of Nikon's range of action cameras," an official announcement by Nikon says. This means that consumers should expect more related releases from the camera company in the near future. There is a big chance that those releases will be packed with more features compared to this one.

2016 is the year of the 360-degree action camera, says Sean O' Kane of The Verge.  The KeyMission 360 is the first action camera to introduce this feature. It is worth noting that GoPro is taking a considerable amount of time before releasing the latest addition to their line of massively successful action cameras.

"It's behind glass, and who knows what [the picture] looks like. We definitely are aware of others trying to encroach on the space to give us a little kick in the rear. But you can't let that scare you into putting out something that isn't ready," Kelly Baker says, spokeswoman of GoPro. Fans of action cameras must simply wait for the next chapter of GoPro's story to unfold. But in the meanwhile, they can try out Nikon's KeyMission 360.
