New Diet Plan 2016: Eating ‘Chocolate Cake’ While Doing Dr. Oz ‘The Day Off Diet’ Is Not A Problem At All [VIDEO]

Dr. Oz' "The Day Off Diet" isn't that too hard to do, you just have to be motivated. The diet plan just simply involves one ultimate cheat day after six days of dieting.

According to Inside Edition, treating yourself for an ultimate cheat day after days of hard work will increase your motivation to hit your fitness goal. Studies say that it's okay to rest and enjoy your favorite ice cream or chocolate cake for a day.

"We kept asking people what they don't like about diets and they said feeling constrained and when you feel constrained it doesn't work and then you fail on your diet," Dr. Oz said.

Researchers from Tilburg University in Holland and the Catholic University of Portugal in Lisbon have claimed that cheat days should be planned or else it might destroy the urge to continue with the diet or worse giving up. The scheduled "goal deviations" will help the body to stick with your diet in long-term.

'It is, however, crucial that the hedonic (pleasurable) goal deviations are planned because unplanned goal deviations might easily be interpreted as failures, which may reduce consumers' mood, and may lead to a "what-the-hell" effect with goal pursuit being stopped altogether." They said.

The study follows the research about a group divided into two; one straight striving group and one cheat-day group. The straight striving group's motivation is to go on with their diet for seven days without satisfying their cravings while the other one's motivation is to work hard for 6 days straight and eat whatever they want on the 7th day.

The researchers have found that the straight striving group's motivation is most likely affected whenever they were tempted to satisfy their cravings. Meanwhile, the cheat day group wasn't negatively influenced to stick to the goal right after the cheat day and they are more willing to continue working hard than the other group.
