Family Finds Marijuana in Burger King Kids Meal

A family in southern Michigan got more than they asked for at a local Burger King.

After buying a Kids Meal for their four-year-old boy, the Detroit family found a pipe stuffed with marijuana inside. According to the Daily Mail, the family had been at a nearby water park when they stopped at the fast food joint for something to eat.

Dundee Police Chief David Uhl said the four-year-old's grandfather came into the restaurant on Tuesday to pick up food. The chief said the family discovered the pipe and immediately notified the police, who arrested the employee and his two friends, ages 18 and 20. They are currently awaiting charges.

The grandfather saw the suspects involved in a suspicious interaction in the Burger King parking lot, according to HNGN.

"He did a really great thing: He wrote down a description of the car and gave a lisence plate," Uhl said, according to KCTV. When police were called, they identified the suspects using the grandfather's information. It's unclear how the pipe and marijuana ended up the kid's meal packaging.

"He hid it somewhere in the store," Chief Uhl said. "We're not quite sure how it ended up there."

The police found hashish and other drug paraphernalia inside the car occupied by the two men who do not work for the restaurant.

"Somehow, somebody picked it up and stuck it in there when they were packaging up the food. It is definitely strange," Chief Uhl said. "Very serious when our children are involved. Luckily, this family was on top of it and saw right away when the grandson opened it up."

A similar incident occurred in 2012 when a mother found synthetic marijuana in her daughters' meals at a Texas Jack in the Box, Fox 7 reported.

"My 10-year-old daughter pulled out this weird thing and she's like 'Ew, mom, what is this?' And me and my husband looked at each other," the mother said.
