iPhone 5se Latest News & Update; Why Bigger Doesn't Mean Better for the iPhone 5se

One of the most recent trends in technology is mobile devices having bigger screens, as seen in the latest smartphones and "phablets." However, Apple's next release is rumored to have a smaller screen, which has led to some experts saying that bigger does not always necessarily mean better.

This may be seen as a step back by a considerable amount of people. It may seem like we are long past the era when we wanted all of our devices to be as small as humanly possible, but a smaller phone may be exactly what we need at this point in time.

"A four-inch iPhone would probably make some users with small hands and even smaller pockets very happy," Ryan Whitwam says for Geek. A lot of people have trouble manipulating their large devices if their hands are small. Larger devices are also much more expensive since they cost more to produce.

"There's a reason phones keep getting bigger - they just sell better. Most consumers don't seem to mind using two hands to operate their phone," Whitwam adds. So if larger devices sell better, why is Apple taking the plunge with a smaller device in the iPhone 5se.

One of the most probable reasons for this is the growing interest for wearable technology in the consumer market. A smaller phone will be much more convenient and easier to carry around.  "Apple could be trying a smaller model of iPhone as a prequel to further experiments with how users are willing to interact with technology," says Lucy Schouten for CS Monitor.

Apple has been known to popularize existing multiple technologies on multiple occasions. So it may come as no surprise if other companies would follow suit and release smaller devices as well. We will just have to wait and see how the iPhone 5se will perform once it is released.
