Simon Cowell Will Soon be a Dad! Mom is a Close Friends Wife [DETAILS]

Simon Cowell will soon be cradling his first born child, who may hopefully, soften up the stern X-Factor judge a bit.

Cowell, 53, is expecting a baby with New York socialite Lauren Silverman, according to Us Weekly and numerous other reports, all citing unnamed sources.

So far, Silverman's pregnancy is going well and "she's around 10 weeks along," an insider shares. However, there is more to this tale. Silverman, 36, is married to Simon Cowell's good friend, Andrew Silverman who is a real estate mogul in New York City.

"Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while," a source said, according to the report. "As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close."

The British judge has been spotted on several occasions with the beautiful Silverman, most recently, on a yacht trip as they soaked up the sun. During the trip, her soon-to-be ex-husband was just feet away from the secret couple. No details were given as to the official reason for the impending divorce.

Before getting serious with Silverman, Cowell was engaged to American Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy, but the couple broke off their 18-month engagement in September 2011.

Cowell has come a long way in terms of opening up to the idea of parenting.  In 2009, he confessed he felt he wasn't dad material, "God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts."

Things appeared to have changed for the judge in 2012. During an AOL interview he said, "I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids. I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."

It appears he clearly has not missed the opportunity. All the best to the soon-to-be parents.
