Pregnant Women's Battle With Body-Shaming Addressed

Pregnancy could cause a lot of changes in a woman's body, but those changes are not something to be ashamed of. However, some women could not accept those changes that they would see a pregnant woman's body unattractive. This is the issue that Weekend Today's co-host Deborah Knight had to address after a viewer called her body "repulsive" since she is pregnant with her third baby.

Knight was just about to go on her maternity leave when she got the angry email from a viewer calling her pregnant body repulsive. The TV personality was still polite on her Twitter post, where she shared the viewer's opinion of her, calling the angry email as charming. She was not offended by the message, but was rather disappointed to have encountered such view in this modern day.

News.Com.Au published the reaction of the pregnant journalist saying that words used by the viewer were quite strong, especially calling her body "repulsive." She was still understanding about the whole situation thinking that not everybody think the same with regards to this matter, especially those people who live in a different time when women used to not work when they are pregnant.

She even explained that back in the 50s, pregnant women were even forced to leave their jobs, but she is just disappointed that someone would still feel the same way now in 2016.

This is not the first time someone made a comment on a pregnant woman's body negatively. Stuff.Co.NZ reported that a viewer named John Rook called another pregnant journalist on TV "an eyesore." He even wrote a letter to the editor of TV Guide asking who is the person behind letting a pregnant sport reported be on screen. He didn't get much support from the public that he was even labeled as a "cranky couch potato."
