Younger Generations No Longer Want to Live to 120

A recent study confirmed that people aged 18 and older no longer want to live up to 120 years old.

The survey conduced by the Pew Research Center's Religion & Public Life Project, 2,012 adults from 18 years of age and older were asked if they want live up to 120. Out of those survery, 69 percent did not like the idea. Most of the respondents would only like to live between the age of 79 and 100. 90 is the median figure.

According to the Research Center, not many Americans want to reach 120 because it is unlikely that quality of life will still be experienced.

However, when 2,012 respondents were asked if they are willing to try potential medical treatments that can slow down aging, 55% said they are do not want to try the said treatment while 38% said they would.

Cary Funk, a researcher from Pew, said that there is very little information about this topic but it is actually very interesting.

Funk stressed that this possible treatment may extend a person's life even beyond his or her actual life expectancy.

There have been several scientific breakthroughs in biotechnology that claim to be effective in delaying aging and increasing longevity but not many people are informed about it.

Pew surveys showed that medical breakthroughs that can extend a person's lifespan are actually good because they allow people to live longer. But 32% of people say it is bad because it distracts life's natural cycle.

However, there is still no confirmation whether or not such treatments will really be made available in the years to come.
