Effective Ways to Prevent and Treat Baby's Gas

Infant gas is a very common. This is because babies have many chances of swallowing air right from the moment they started using their digestive system. Some may not have trouble with it but others can go struggling a bit.

Bear in mind that infant gas is normal and treatable. Finding the cause and ruling them out will make the job easier for moms and less stressful for babies. Some of the signs that a baby is gassy are a hard tummy, burps, bloating, and farts. Your baby may even get fussy due to cramps. In the presence of these signs, try doing the following techniques:

1. Have the baby lay on a flat surface on his tummy. Slightly lift his head and gently massage his belly.

2. You may choose to have him lay on his back and pull his legs alternately as though he is riding a bicycle.

3. Make the baby burp after every having half ounce of milk by raising his in an upright position for a moment and then allowing his to get back to his milk afterwards, according to The Bundoo.

4. Make sure that as the baby is fed, his head is higher than his stomach making sure that the milk sinks in and the air goes up preventing it from being trapped inside the baby's tummy.

5. Always check the feeding bottle position, Check if it is tilted enough not allowing any air to pass through the nipple and get sucked by the baby, according to The Parents.

6. Choose a slower-flow nipple. This assures that there is not much air the baby takes in should the milk runs out and the baby continues sucking.

7. Check the brand of breast milk substitute you are using. Some brands may not be tummy friendly to your baby. It is important to seek your doctor's advice in choosing the right one.

8. Have a monitoring of the type of solid foods which induces gas to your baby. Hard to digest foods also adds up to the cramps brought about by gas in her tummy, according to WebMD.
