'The Division' News And Update: Beta Release Disappoints Some Players

For many gamers, "Tom Clancy's The Division" is on the list of the most anticipated games of 2016. However, after the release of the beta version for many their expectations have been dulled quite a bit.

The closed multiplayer beta is now available on PC and PlayStation 4, following its launch on January 28. But, according to Game Spot, the first problem encountered is the fact that some Steam users have issues accessing it. The developer responded on the Ubisoft forums that it is aware of these issues and it is working with Steam in order to fix them.

Another complaint of those users who tried the beta release is that the game play is uninspiring, according to Ars Technica. The shooting action, particularly the way you can move between safe points and hide behind cover, seems directly inspiration from the "Gears of War" series.

The controls are quite clunky and the transitions and animations are not smooth enough. Climbing onto a high surface, stepping out of cover and rolling out of the way of bullets are awkward and slow.

The controls are just a minor issue compared to the enemy AI. Armed enemies often pause while dodging to take cover and just stand in the open defenseless. Other times enemies simply run straight at you, easy to be gunned down.

It is not a strong start even taking into consideration that these are supposed to be the easiest and earliest missions in the game. The action feels too repetitive and there is little variety in the enemies.

"The Division" beta release does not impress either through game's abilities and RPG-like leveling. You can use scrap materials to build up a central base and scrounge downed enemies for armor, accessories, weaponry and items.

However, all these features seem so far feel very basic and with little of fun customization options. The special abilities on offer are kind of boring, as well.

Fans of "The Division" series still hope that the game will grow a bit more interesting in the March 8 release.
