'The Winds Of Winter' Release Date, News And Update: Publishing Date Pushed Further Back, Now Unconfirmed? George RR Martin Says No Word About Book Progress

George R.R. Martin has yet to announce the final release date of his latest installment of "The Song Of Ice And Fire" series, "The Winds of Winter," after all it was set to be released in the last quarter of 2015. Unfortunately, the talented writer revealed that he was not able to submit the manuscript of "The Winds of Winter" to his publisher on time for the first time in Nov. 2015 and pushed it back to December 2015; again, the writer missed his deadline.

Now, fans are questioning whether they will ever see "The Winds of Winter" in bookstores this year. After all, fans have now accepted the fact that the book will be out for reading after the sixth season of "Game of Thrones" airs. However, there is no word released yet about when "The Winds of Winter" will be possibly coming out and it seems likely that 2016 will not be that year.

Although "Game of Thrones" has somewhat deviated their story line from the books, in the end, the books still matter in piecing things together -- despite the fact that  "The Winds of Winter," which will be the inspiration for the 6th book, is nowhere to be seen. This is the first time that fans will be totally in the dark in the upcoming episodes of "Game of Thrones."

Despite this, fans are encouraging Martin to finish the book within this year; "The Winds of Winter" will still be very much supported. Martin revealed that he is worried that the 6th season of "Game of Thrones" will leave little of interest for "The Winds of Winter" since the whole storyline might reveal everything in the book.

The author also voiced out that there are already hundreds of stories and pages for "The Winds of Winter" manuscript but there have been a lot of rewriting. "I always do a lot of rewriting, sometimes just polishing, sometimes pretty major restructures," Martin shared. One thing Martin promises is that "The Winds of Winter" will be "pretty good."
