Red Cross Opens More Blood Donation Opportunities

The American Red Cross announced various blood donation opportunities for the month of August, according to the GB Tribune.

The organization informed GB Tribune about the various dates including August 27 from nine in the morning until two forty-five in the afternoon at the United Methodist Church and from two to seven in the evening at the St. Joseph's Parish Center.

On August 30, there will be blood donation opportunities from 12 noon until six in the evening at the J.A. Haas Building and on September 9, blood donations will be held at the Pawnee Heights High School from 11:30 in the morning until three in the afternoon, GB Tribune stated.

The ARC told the GB Tribune that all blood types are needed because this will guarantee that more patients in need of blood donations will be accommodated.

They also provided some guidelines for those who might be interested to donate.

According to a press release posted on the GB Tribune, upon check-in, identification cards will be required. Those who are 17 years old and younger should provide a parental consent and should weight at least 110 pounds.

There will also be certain height and weight requirements for all donors.

As part of the organization's summer campaign entitled "Red Cross Summer of Stories" aimed at maintaining top quality blood supply, those who will be donating from August 26 until September nine will have the chance to win one of five $1,000 American Express gift cards, a source told the GB Tribune.
