New Study Claims Beard Bacteria Could Be A Source Of New Antibiotics

A new study claims that a man's beard could actually be a source of new antibiotics. The scientist behind this research is Adam Roberts, a microbiologist who happened to accidentally discover this possibility.

According to an article reported by the National Post, Roberts was looking for some fecal matter in a man's beard. He wasn't able to find what he was looking for instead he saw a possibility how beard bacteria could actually work as an antibiotic.

His whole search for some fecal matter in a man's beard started when a fake story about a man's beard could contain feces went viral. He got curious over the headlines that talks about some beards could have more feces than a toilet and it was backed up with a fake study as well. Bottom line, that viral story sounded so convincing and real that it triggered Roberts curiosity to find out for himself if it is real.

Lots of reliable publications have even reported it, which is why a lot of people started to believe that it is true. New.com in Australia featured it back in 2015 with a video that backs up its "study."

Later on, it was debunked because the video linked to it that claims its "study" was found out to be quite unrelated to the viral story. The video happens to be a documentary of a journalist who used some beards taken from different men and have them submitted to a microbiologist for further testing the cultures. They found out some bacteria known as "eterics," which often reside in the intestine, but are still not considered a fecal matter.

Fast forward to this year when Roberts started doing research about what could be in a man's beard, apparently it is not as bad as a fecal matter. In fact, it could even revolutionize the medical industry.
