Final Fantasy News: For A Limited Time The 'Final Fantasy Portal' App Allows To Play 'Final Fantasy 2' For Free

Square Enix features a Final Fantasy Portal App that comes to celebrate worldwide its one year anniversary. The app provides a link to new game and app releases as well as Final Fantasy news.

On mobile devices, the Portal app is available for free. To honor the anniversary, the game developer Square Enix is offering a free game. Gamers can download "Final Fantasy 2" on the Portal app, according to the website twinfinite.com. The normal price of the game is $7.99 on either iOS or Android. Players can enjoy the free download offer until Feb. 14.

Whenever they want to play, gamers who download the free "Final Fantasy 2" have to launch it through the Final Fantasy Portal App. When the app first launched a year ago it was offering "Final Fantasy 1" for free. Another game that you can always find for free on the Portal app is "Triple Triad".

Many things were told about the "Final Fantasy" games from Square Enix, but "Final Fantasy 2" received less praise than other installments from the series. The game is a classic title that featured a more character-centric story and changed its experience system to match whatever actions characters took in battle.

According to the website toucharcade.com, "Final Fantasy 2" didn't fare too well in practice, being an extremely experimental sequel. Nevertheless, the game made some important additions that are still a part of the series today. The modern version of "Final Fantasy 2" is far easier to play than the original release. However, some gamers might not be eager to risk buying it, since the game certainly does carry a reputation.

For those who never tried "Final Fantasy 2", this is the best time to give the game a chance. Until Feb. 14 you can get it for free and play it whenever you like through the Portal app. Meanwhile, Square Enix removed the stand-alone version from sale on the App Store.
