"Prison Break" will return next season, Fox TV chief Dana Walden confirmed during the Television Critics Association, reported Variety. This comes in lieu of the ongoing rumors that the reboot of the series will have a delayed release date because of problems with the casting and scheduling.

Aside from the announcement that "Prison Break" Season 5 will air this 2016, the Fox executives also confirmed that stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell and other returning cast will begin filming in April. The episode count for the upcoming season is rumored to be between eight and 10, but this has yet to be officially announced.

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated reboot of "Prison Break" will see the return of Wentworth Miller as Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell as Lincoln Burrows. One of the things that fans are looking forward to is the "major twist" behind Michael's death and his resurrection.

"Prison Break" villain, T-Bag, played by Robert Knepper, is also in talks of reprising his role in the upcoming series, Express noted. Sarah Wayne Callies, who played the role of prison medic, Sara Tancredi, expressed doubts about her return in the series, but admitted that she is currently "trying to make it work."

Rumors initially claimed that the release date for "Prison Break" Season 5 may be delayed because Miller and Purcell have recurring guest roles for the "Legends of Tomorrow." However, it looks like fans will be delighted to know that Miller and Purcell will be back on set in a couple of months' time to reprise their respective roles in the upcoming revival of the series.
