'Lawless' Controversy: The Truth Behind Tom Hardy And Shia LaBeouf's On-set Fight

John Hillcoat recently confirmed the controversial fight that took place between Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf on the set of "Lawless" in 2012. As part of his promotional stint for his new project, the director answered the rumours surrounding the brawl after four years.

It was during an AMA on Reddit that the director was asked about the controversy even after all this time. The director participated the online interrogation to promote his new film "Triple 9" according to Cinema Blend. He verified that a fight broke out between Hardy and LaBeouf however, Hardy being knocked down was wholly exaggerated. The rest of the fight was not explained further.

"There was definitely a fight between them. It escalated to the point where they had to both be restrained. But I was very pleased to hear it didn't go that way because I would hate to see the outcome."

At that time, Tom Hardy stated that he was the one who got "knocked out" however, his words were delivered sarcastically like he was messing around with people. Based on what Hillcoat had said, Hardy and LaBeouf were fortunately stopped before the fight further escalated to uncontrollable madness. If it wasn't stopped, the result would have been a bloody messy considering LaBeouf doesn't match Hardy in size.

The reason why the fight started was not mentioned but Shia LaBeouf had a series of misconduct on his name. It doesn't surprise anyone anymore if he's involved in some form of harassment.

Hillcoat's upcoming film Triple 9 was branded by Yahoo as red-band when the trailer came out, reports Cinema Blend. The film is reported to include star-studded cast which includes Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer, Anthony Mackie, Clifton Collins Jr., and Norman Reedus.
