'Fallout 4' DLC Release Date, News & Updates: Survival Mode More Challenging, PC Mod Support Coming In April

The post-apocalyptic RPG game from Bethesda, "Fallout 4", has won several DICE Awards. Now the company is planning to provide official mod support for the PC version of the game.

According to the Bethesda's Executive Director Todd Howard, official mod support for the PC version will come in April and support for the consoles will follow shortly after.

With mods players are able to build their own content for the "Fallout 4" open-world game. It is true that on the market already exist hundreds of unofficial patches. However, the difference is that with the official PC mod support the certified toolkit from Bethesda will allow players to contribute to the official framework and distribute their work easily via Steam.

Official mod support from Bethesda will come between "the first two DLCs", according to Howard. Engadget reports that the $10 "Automatron" pack will come in March and the $5 "Wasteland Workshop" will follow in April. These mods will come on PC and users are beta testing them already, according to Howard.

The games developer company wants to get the mod on PC first and ensure that they work. For this reason it will be a lag on consoles. According to Howard it can take around month before the mod support come for "Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4."

With the launch of "Fallout 4" the developer company Bethesda changed its way to distribute its titles. For the first time the game sold more digital copies on day one than it did at retail.

Bethesda also announced a "complete overhaul" of the game's Survival Mode, according to GameSpot. The new Survival Mode in "Fallout 4" brings more struggle and a brutal take on a life lived post apocalypse. The rules of the game in Survival Mode are made for "maximum challenge". Combat lethality is increased, you take and give more damage, the manual and quicksaving are disabled.
