Indian police arrested a teenager for the fatal stabbing of a seven-year-old boy in Gurugram over the possible snitching of a phone theft.

The suspect, a 15-year-old male, allegedly left the victim's body near Kalwadi village along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, where it was found by authorities. Police said that the teenager confessed to killing the young boy as revenge for the humiliation he experienced after being caught stealing a mobile phone that belonged to the victim's father.

Authorities also noted that the suspect lured the unsuspecting boy away from his home and stabbed him more than 18 times using a pair of scissors. The horrific crime was discovered after local residents found a blood-soaked body along the KMP Expressway and informed law enforcement.

Officials said that the victim was found to have multiple injuries on his chest and forehead. An FIR was registered at the Bilaspu police station, and authorities later transferred the body for postmortem, according to Tribune India.

The victim was later identified as Ashish, who was originally from Palkari village in Alwar district, Rajasthan. The boy's family had been living in a rented home in Fatehpur village for the past three months. The boy's father, Kamal, works in a private company, and his family includes a mother, elder brother, and sister.

The suspect in the case was arrested by police from his village late Sunday night, with law enforcement authorities saying he initially pretended to help search for the victim. However, he later broke down and confessed to the crime after confronting the boy's father, NDTV reported.

A Horrifying Incident

There was also a stabbing in West Sussex that led to the arrest of a teenager who is suspected of committing the crime. On Thursday last week, emergency services were called to a property in Martyrs Avenue in Langley Green at around 9:50 PM BST.

After being stabbed, the victim was transferred to a hospital to be treated for his injuries and was said to be in stable condition. The suspect, a 17-year-old individual, was arrested along with a 37-year-old woman.

Supt. Imran Asghar said that they understand the impact of the incident on the community, noting that their officers have been working tirelessly to understand what exactly happened. They are also looking into holding those responsible to account for what they have done.

The official added that there had been an increase in police patrols in the area since the stabbing incident. He also urged any witnesses or members of the public with information about the crime to get in touch with authorities, as per BBC.
