Food Feud: Is Burger King's 'Oreo Irish Mint' Healthier than McDonald's 'Shamrock Shake'?

McDonald's is known to have seasonal menus that aim to keep their customers coming. As for their tight competition, Burger King recently announced the latest addition to its beverage menu to compete with McDonald's Shamrock Shake.

Burger King introduces Oreo Irish Mint shake, which is paired with their Chicken jalapeno fries. According to Business Insider, the drink comes with three different sizes which are small, medium and large. As per the website's review, the Burger King's shake is thicker and a bit icy compare to McDonald's Shamrock Shake. It also has a generous amount of whipped cream topping, but it's a bit bland in taste as described by the BI.

What gave Burger King the edge compared to McDonald's is the fact that the Oreo crumble is tasty; it does, however, overpower the minty taste. Though it tastes good, the minty flavor that's being promoted by the product was not able to deliver customer satisfaction.

With these being said, McDonald's Shamrock Shake manages to get customers approval when it comes to going green. Customers opt for the McDonald's 40-year-old seasonal menu as it is smoother and milkier compared to Burger King's.

After discussing the taste, part of the battle involved which drink contains more calories, and which one is healthier. Apparently, McDonald's Shamrock Shake is pack with sugar. In one of Borward News Times report, Nicole Danna, a food blogger cited a few facts in regards to McDonald's popular milkshake. She cited that the green shake was one a plain vanilla milkshake with a zest of lemon.

Upon adding the additional flavoring in time for St. Patrick's Day, however, McDonald's Shamrock Shake turned into a high sugar concoction. A small sized Shamrock Shake contains 530 calories, which is equivalent to 15 grams of fat. Burger King's Oreo Irish Mint only packs 430 calories as reported by The Impulsive Buy website.
