How to Get Toned Abs 10 Weeks After Giving Birth

A Dubai-based mother wowed Instagram users with her toned abs, 10 weeks after giving birth to her daughter. Exercise played a big part in her fitness achievements.

Daily Star said 31-year-old mom Inger Houghton, who is originally from Norway, started her workout regimen even when she was still pregnant. Her Instagram page showed her lifting weights and doing pull-ups at 39 weeks.

Despite admitting that she ate a lot of chocolates when she was pregnant, Houghton proudly showed off her sexy body and flat stomach after giving birth. She and husband Ian welcomed a healthy little girl, whom they named Kaia Isabella.

"I stayed active for my entire pregnancy. I didn't train as often or as hard as before of course, but I would have gone mad if I couldn't do anything for nine months," she shared. "Luckily I had a good pregnancy without any major problems, so it didn't feel like a struggle to keep active."

She admitted that exercising when she was pregnant became hard for her because she was dealing with a growing belly and balancing was a challenge. However, she maintained that she kept exercising until she can.

Houghton also mentioned with Daily Star that her physical strength helped her a lot when she gave birth. "Being strong would help me cope with the changes the pregnancy made to my body and also prepare me for giving birth," she added.

The fit mom also shared that she focused on doing dead-lifts, pull-ups and squats during her exercise training. According to Girls Gone Strong, strength training during pregnancy helps changed the body and boost a woman's energy.

It also noted that lifting weights also help expecting moms to be strong, self-confident and empowered. However, the same report said that pregnant women should do proper warm-ups and exercise to protect themselves and their babies.
