'Uncharted 4' News & Updates: New Directors Totally Changed The Game's Story

"Uncharted 4" director Neil Druckmann reveals that the story of the game totally changed when he and co-director Bruce Straley came onboard.

According to GameRant, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley are familiar with the "Uncharted" franchise since they worked on the first two titles of the series. The pair of directors returned to the "Uncharted" franchise in June 2014 to work on the series-concluding "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."

There were creative differences with the writing team and Druckmann and Straley ended up changing everything that had been done to the "Uncharted 4" game title before their arrival.

Justin Richmond and Amy Hennig were originally the directors of the game "Uncharted 4." After their careers with Naughty Dog came to an abrupt halt they went on in early 2014 to work for Riot and Visceral Games respectively. These career change-ups have come with some drama. At the time were plenty of reports claiming that the new directors have "forced out" Hennig of her post. However, Naughty Dog itself has officially denied this.

During an interview, Druckmann recently revealed that the story of "Uncharted 4" totally changed when he and Straley rejoined the studio as the new directors of the game. Voice actor Nolan North, who provides the voice of Nathan Drake, also corroborated the statement. According to Nolan, after the development team of the game "Uncharted 4" had completed almost a year's worth of work based on Amy Hennig's vision, everything was changed in 2014 with the arrival of the new creative leadership.

As the development team had to change the majority of the assets that weren't needed for Drukmann and Straley's vision, this would also explain why the game "Uncharted 4" was delayed until 2016. Now, the game is closing to completion but the development cycle of "Uncharted 4" has certainly been a bumpy road. According to PlayStation Lifestyle, "Uncharted 4" will finally be released on April 26 in North America and April 27 in Europe, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
