'Spider-Man' Reboot Cast News: Tom Holland Shows Off His Spidey Skills, Fans Petition One Actor To Reprise His Role

Although the reboot of "Spider-Man" isn't coming until 2017, Tom Holland is already preparing for the part by keeping himself fit and agile. And while the movie is yet to go into production, there's a strong clamor from fans for the return of one actor.

Holland demonstrated that has no trouble doing stunts in a new video post on his Instagram. The actor was shown doing a series of flips on a mat that was set up in a backyard. He performed the routines like an acrobat, but he had a few missteps with achieving a perfect landing. However, his moves prove that Marvel was right to pick him for the part of Spider-Man and he's been hard at work since his casting was announced last year.

Before Holland does his solo movie, his skills and popularity as the webbed one will be tested when "Captain America: Civil War" launches in theaters in May. Holland has a cameo in the film, but how small or large his participation is remains a secret.

"Marvel and Sony still have to work out what uses they have for the character, on a promotional level, on a commercial level. There's still complications as far as that goes that involves business deals," directors  Anthony & Joe Russo explained the lack of promos for Holland in "Captain America" via Collider.

Meanwhile, as production is still being set for "Spider-Man" fans are hoping that the studios will consider bringing back J.K. Simmons for the role of J. Jonah Jameson, Peter Parker's editor-in-chief. Simmons played the part in the previous "Spider-Man" trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire under Sam Raimi's direction.

Athough Simmons understands that fan petitions might not mean anything to studios, he's not abandoning the idea of joining the reboot. "Doing those movies with Sam was one of the great joys of my career," Simmons told Entertainment Weekly in the video below. "It was a super fun character so I -- I'll never close the door on anything."
