'Gambit' News and Updates: Movie Will Not Be Released In October As Planned

Fans of Channing Tatum wanting to see him as "Gambit" may need to wait a little longer as the release date won't happen in October as initially planned. Fox has not announced the new release date for the highly anticipated film "Gambit".

One of the highly-anticipated Marvel characters is Gambit which Channing Tatum will portray, according to Movie News Guide. It was initially scheduled to be released in October however, a mix-up of release date over the weekend resulted in a delay for "Gambit." Once more, fans are left speculating when the much-awaited "Gambit" will be released.

This delay may come as a no surprise anymore to most of its fans. Last year, the film had to change directors when Rupert Wyatt resigned in September. He was replaced by Doug Liman in November and was left with 11 months to work on the film.

While this may be frustrating for some, Empire believes that this could be beneficial for both the film production and its fans. Releasing the film this October with Liman just onboard last November is quite impossible.

Delaying the release date is just a sensible decision for Fox. People working on "Gambit" will now have more time to assemble everything properly.

Both Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner will still produce "Gambit" with Josh Zetumer writing the screenplay. The movie will be based closely on the comic book penned by Chris Claremont.

As of date, Lea Sydoux is the only other cast member confirmed to join "Gambit". She is known for her roles in "Blue is the Warmest Color" and "Spectre" according to NME.

Sydoux will portray Gambit's love interest, Bella Donna Boudreaux. Tatum hopes that Gambit will become like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine where he can star in any X-men movie series and still has his stand-alone film.
