George Clooney News: 'Hail, Caesar!' Star To Quit Acting? Star Reveals His Reason And Next Plan

George Clooney understands that he cannot be a heartthrob forever. In promoting his latest flick, "Hail, Caesar!" the actor revealed that aging may eventually lead him to quit acting. So, what's he going to do next?

Speaking with BBC, Clooney said that the audience might no longer want to see his aging face on the big screen later on. "As you age on screen you get to that point where you really understand that, you know, you can't stay in front of the camera your whole life," he said. "You try to pick the films that work best for you and as you age they become less and less."

The 54-year-old Hollywood star acknowledged that while he enjoys acting, he might shift to something he loves doing better: directing. "It is my great love," he said, per E! Online. He's not a newbie when it comes to this craft as he has helmed films like "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" in 2004 and "Good Night, and Good Luck" in 2008.

Some of the movies Clooney directed were well-received, while others didn't quite click with critics and the audience, but the actor said that it's part of the experience. What's important is he's enjoying what he is doing behind the camera.

When he directed "The Monuments Men" in 2014 and made the press rounds, he professed that he's learned to love directing and writing more than acting. "I think, they seem to be infinitely more creative," he said, per Metro. Clooney has already booked future directorial jobs with "Suburbicon" starring Matt Damon and "Hack Attack," which tackles the life of business tycoon Rupert Murdoch.

The actor is also into producing, where he's reaping much success as well. He was one of the producers of "Argo" that starred Ben Affleck. The film walked away with the Best Picture award at the 2013 Oscars, per Daily Mail.
