'Justice League: Part One' Release Date, News & Update: J.K. Simmons Cast as Commissioner Gordon

"Justice League: Part One" found its new additional cast member with Oscar winner J.K. Simmons. The 61-year-old actor has been cast to play the role of Commissioner James Gordon of the Gotham police.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Justice League: Part One" will be composed of superheroes like Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman). Also, Jason Momoa will be seen as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

They are all set to fight the threats the entire team is going to face. "Justice League: Part One" will be directed by Zack Snyder, who's also behind "Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice."

Moreover, "Justice League: Part One" will first put its attention to building the Justice League that will be brought by the "super-powered" threat. However, the said menace, as rumor has it, will turn out to be "Darkseid."

Nevertheless, the existence of superheroes in the world of "normal" people may be typical in creating DC Extended Universe, as started by the "Man of Steel." Hence, giving the "non-superpowered" individuals major roles will continue in the upcoming movie adaptations of DC comic books, Screen Rant reported.

Also, this just proves the role of J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon for being a key character that has a connection with Batman. The policeman is known for helping the caped crusader for his different kind of "dark moral code and crime-fighting" attack.

Furthermore, acting for "Justice League: Part One" is not new for J.K. Simmons. He already graced the superhero world with "Spider-Man" films as the publisher J. Jonah Jameson, Movie Pilot added.

Meanwhile, "Justice League: Part One" will start filming in the middle of April and will hit the theaters on Nov. 17, 2017. While "Justice League: Part Two" is set to be released on June 14, 2019.
