Nevada Athletic Commission Suspends Nate Diaz Until 4/20 After His Fight With Conor McGregor

Just a few days after winning UFC 196 against Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz received a medical suspension notice. The notice cited that Diaz would be suspended until April 20 due to his eyebrow laceration.

According to the MMA News website the Nevada Athletic Commission issued a suspension against Nate Diaz. It was mentioned that the medical suspension would only last until April 20. Though it may not be a bug deal for some, it's something co-incidental for Nate Diaz as that date is one of the biggest events for pot smokers.

Nate Diaz and his brother Nick are known for using medical marijuana, but his pot use isn't linked to his medical suspension. The medical suspension cited that it was for his eye laceration. He acquired the wound during his fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 196.

Though Nate Diaz's suspension wasn't linked to marijuana consumption, his brother Nick Diaz, on the other hand, went through a rocky relationship with his love for marijuana. Nick was suspended after testing positive for marijuana three times in a row.

On a lighter note, Fox Sports released a report stating that Nick Diaz's suspension was reduced from five years to 18 months. To make things better, his fine was also significantly reduced from $165,000 to $100,000, which is part of his agreement with the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Fight fans are delighted to know that Nick Diaz is eligible to return to the octagon by August 1, 2016. He was originally suspended for five years, but his suspension caused havoc among fight fans and majority of his supporters as they pleaded to have it lifted.

With Nick Diaz's fans determination to help their favorite MMA fighter, they released a petition for him. The public's outcry paved the way for a petition that gathered a response from the White House. The online petition received 100,000 signatures.
