Young Woman Asks Man Who Raised Her To Be Her Dad

There have been different kinds of proposals posted on the internet, ranging from normal to weird, and at times, epic. However, not everyone's proposal is for marriage. For instance, a young woman from Illinois captured the heartwarming moment when she asked the man who raised her to officially adopt her and be her dad.

Misty Nicole Knight of Richton Park, Illinois, posted a three-and-a-half minute video on Facebook in what Smart Parenting said is the best possible way to show gratitude to the man who raised her. At the beginning of the video, she asked Ryan Farrell to open a wrapped box with a note on it.

The note, she said, he has to read aloud. Initially reluctant, the man said "You're going to make me cry," and insisted that nobody record him. However, Misty, a Hooters waitress, convinced him to do so anyway.

 "I just want you to know that you are the most amazing man I have ever met," he read aloud. The letter went on to describe how he's been with her all her life, and he's done things for her the way a dad would his own child -- he fixed her hair, helped her with school, and even took her to her first concert. "I cannot imagine not having you in my life. I'm so grateful to be able to call you Dad."

When Ryan finally opened the box, he was surprised to find a Batman vs. Superman adult onesie and some sweets -- but those weren't the surprises Misty had in store. The final present is an application for adoption -- a gift that made Ryan speechless. He burst into tears and hugged the young woman he raised as he told her, "God, I've been wanting to do that forever."

Misty posted on Facebook on March 6, saying, "So everyone has been waiting for this but I finally asked the man that raised me to adopt me. love you with all my heart and can't wait to be a FARRELL."

According to The Daily Mail, Misty's mother, Nicole, is believed to have been separated from Ryan, however, she seems happy with her daughter's and former partner's decision, writing in the video's comment section, "Awww so sweet! I'm so glad you followed through with this! I couldn't have chosen a better father for you! You have a great father! He loves you and your brother so much!!!!!" Check out the heartwarming video below:
