Planning a healthy menu for your kids is quite a challenge nowadays. Making sure that they eat well and healthy is even harder since there has been a lot of an unhealthy food substitute that is readily available in the market.

A mom of four and an expert in eating for disease prevention (she's a founder of the Beller Nutritional Institute in Beverly Hills, CA) Rachel Beller, R.D., shares her top nutritious superfood picks that your kids will surely love!

Eggs
Eggs are rich in protein and naturally contains the sunshine vitamin D that aids in calcium absorption. Eating eggs for breakfast makes them feel full the whole morning.

Oatmeal
Fiber-rich whole grains such as oatmeal, takes a while to digest giving your child energize in school. Studies also say that oatmeal improves your child's concentration and attention span.

Fruit
"An apple a day, keeps the doctor away." - Indeed! Fruits are a good source of fiber. Beller suggests giving them variety of fruits to eat, like berries, melon, kiwifruit and oranges.

Milk
Milk is an excellent source of calcium to keep your child's bone growth and teeth strong and healthy.

Tofu
"Tofu is great for young girls because it has a protective effect as their bodies and breast tissue are developing-which lasts into adulthood," says Beller. Aside from that, it also has anti-cancer benefits.  

Nuts
For your child's dose of healthy fats, give them nuts instead of chips for their snacks.

Tomatoes
Lycopene are rich in tomatoes that are well known to fight cancer. Beller recommends pairing tomato rich foods with olive oil helps the body absorb more nutrients. 

Cocoa
Cocoa powder is packed with flavanoids, a nutrient that is known to improve blood pressure, heart and oral health. It is also known to have properties to protect the skin from the heat of the sun. You can put it in your child's  pancake batter, or let them enjoy a cup of hot cocoa with their breakfast.
