Apple iPhone SE News & Updates: What to Expect From the New iPhone Announcement at March 21 Launch Event

It is now confirmed that Apple will launch a smaller four-inch iPhone at the March 21 event. Instead of the iPhone 6C or iPhone 5SE, as rumored last year, the new iPhone model will be named the iPhone SE.

According to previous reports published by Tech Radar and BuzzFeed, Apple has been working on designing a new four-inch iPhone. Despite the smaller size, the iPhone SE will not be a low-end device. Consumers won't have to worry about sacrificing performance. The new four-inch iPhone will be a mixture of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S specs. It will also feature a smaller case resembling the iPhone 5.

According to Bloomberg, the iPhone SE will be powered by an A9 processor and it will feature a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter and 8-megapixel rear camera, just like the iPhone 6. In order to be used for Apple Pay, the phone is expected to include NFC and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor. However, the 3D Touch feature is expected to be missing as it is, for now, an exclusive feature on the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

The design of the four-inch iPhone design is expected to be slightly updated by Apple in order to make it look a bit more like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. The iPhone SE will feature glass that curves slightly at the edges, providing the rounded look similar to the facade of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6S. The phone will reportedly come in four color variants: gold, silver, gray and rose gold.

At the same March 21 Apple launch event, the tech giant will launch its new 9.7-inch iPad Air 3. There are speculations suggesting that the new iPad will go under a new name, the iPad Pro, rather than iPad Air, per 9to5Mac.

The new 9.7-inch model will come with a stylus support, four speakers, a faster processor, additional RAM and 128GB of storage capacity. The iPad is reported to come with a connector on its side that introduces a key feature for attaching a keyboard case.
