'Sherlock' Season 4 Air Date & News Update: Steven Mofatt Teases a Better New Season; Holme's Apartment Unveiled [Rumors]

Fans of the "Sherlock" series are very anxious for the return of their favorite show. "Sherlock" Season 4 is set to premiere next year. Although it is still almost a year away, the TV series continues to make headlines.

According to BreatheCast, "Sherlock" Season 4 will be better.

The show won three Emmy awards including honors for lead star Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and writer-producer Steve Moffat. At the backstage, Moffat revealed juicy details for "Sherlock" Season 4.

Moffat said that they didn't expect to win. After their victory, the team will continue to work hard and will not be complacent because they are aiming to surpass it.

"We have a plan to top it. And I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan ... we're probably more excited that we've ever been about Sherlock," he told Entertainment Weekly.

Mark Gatiss, writer and producer also shared some "Sherlock" Season 4 details at the HBO after-party where he disclosed that the next season would feature something they never covered before. It doesn't mean that they will be taking it in outer space, but they will re-introduce new builds for a darker climax.

"We might just be going darker [from the outset]. We got a very, very good set of ideas," he said.

Meanwhile, production designer Arwel Wyn Jones gave fans a sneak peek of the popular detective's apartment, BreatheCast noted. In his posts, he included behind-the-scenes images of "Sherlock" Season 4 including a door to 221B Baker Street, where Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson live.

In another post, Jones also showed a photo of the wallpaper that would be used in filming "Sherlock" Season. 4.

On a separate note, Parent Herald previously reported that there are rumors that Andrew Scott's character Moriarty will return in "Sherlock" Season 4. Moriarty is Holme's nemesis. In the previous "Sherlock" episode the character said, "Did you miss me?" which made fans think that he will be bringing more fun and excitement in the show again.

"Sherlock" Season 4 will premiere in early 2017 on BBC.
