Is Your Cat Normal?

Cats have this unique behavior where they enjoy playing on their own. You may see a cat lying back down on the floor and gazing at the ceiling or you may see a cat trying to look for something and you can't figure out what it is. Here are some things that cats usually do.

Cats rubbing their face and body against you.

According to Pets WebMD, when a cat rubs its face on any part of your body, they are trying to leave their own scent on you. The scent is released from their glands located in their face. This is also a sign that your cat loves you.

Cats rolling and gazing on the ceiling like they're high.

Your cat could've ingested or inhaled the aroma of the catnip plant. As explained by PetMD, catnip is an herb with a minty aroma. The leaves contain a chemical compound called nepetalactone which is equivalent to marijuana in humans. This makes your cat high.

Cats sleep too much.

This is a cat's nature. Domesticated cats sleep 12 to 16 hours a day including naps. When cats play around, hunt or eat, they use a lot of energy stored in the body. The only way to restore that lost energy is to sleep so cats take long hours of sleeping.

There are days where your cat meows a lot.

This is a sign that they are ready for mating. Female cats become very vocal when they are in heat. They alert male cats in the area that they are ready for mating. For male cats, they only meow excessively in response to a female who is trying to alert them.

Cats play at night.

Everyone have surely seen cats playing on the porch, jumping on the roof or even just walking around outside the house at night. This is pretty normal. Cats are nocturnal by nature and it is encrypted in their genes. They hunt for prey at night. Even if the cats are domesticated since birth, they still have this kind of behavior.

If your cat is doing these things, then your cat is perfectly normal.
