"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" stars Ellie Kemper as one of the women rescued from captivity following isolation by a deranged cult leader. Despite her predicament, Kimmy remains optimistic and she's learning to adjust to life in the outside world after years of being in the dark about what's happening in the real world.

The series was created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock after working together on "30 Rock." The show made a successful debut last year on Netflix and earned 7 Emmy nominations, per CNN. Will Season 2 become just as successful?

Fey revealed that the upcoming show might have a heavier theme than the first installment as Kimmy tries to address the challenges in her life. However, the overall tone of the show will remain consistent with Season 1.

One of what viewers can look forward to this season is Kimmy's reunion with her mother. "What I know about her is that she wore short skirts and maybe wasn't the most attentive mother, so it might be a sad revelation who the mother was," Kemper said, per The Hollywood Reporter. It's not yet known who plays Kimmy's mom.

"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" Season 2 will premiere on April 15 on Netflix.
