Django Unchained Actress Kerry Washington Won't Entertain Persistent Divorce Rumors

Kerry Washington is intentionally not confirming nor denying persistent divorce rumors about her and husband Nnamdi Asomugha. She wants to talk about her private life in her own terms, which for her means never.

The "Django Unchained" actress has maintained her privacy-based point of view even before her marriage to the former NFL cornerback. When they did marry in 2013, the media was totally unaware about the wedding, Page Six reported.

Washington recently participated in the SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Festival in Austin, where she gave a talk on the New Rules of Social Stardom. She also took the time to explain why she refuse to comment on the divorce rumors, as per E! Online.

"If I don't talk about my personal life, it means I don't talk about my personal life," she declared. "That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what's going on in my marriage, I don't refute them, because I don't talk about my personal life."

The mother of 19-month-old Isabelle Amarachi acknowledged the important role of Facebook and Twitter in connecting celebrities to their fans. However, she doesn't plan on revealing private matters on social media.

"For a lot of celebrities, social media has been great in terms of their relationship with the tabloids because if something incorrect is written, they can just say 'that's not true,'" said Washington. "But because I don't post about my personal life, I won't engage with that at all."

She told Glamour a few years back that she had close friends in show business who like to talk about their lives in social media. In Washington's case, the constant posting and tweeting just didn't work for her. Traditional media also didn't do the trick which was why she decided to stay mum about her private life entirely.
