3-Year-Old Brain Cancer Patient Receives Love From All Over The World

A toddler with brain cancer received uplifting postcards all over the world. The simple act of getting the mail has unexpectedly brought cheer to the 3-year-old.

Ellie Walton just turned three December last year. She is currently battling stage four of a deadly form of brain cancer called glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Tech Times describes the cancer as a highly invasive glioma in the brain characterized by tumors that are highly malignant. The cancer cells are known to reproduce quickly.

She is currently under two different kinds of chemotherapy. This could go on until next year according to her mom. Ellie was diagnosed with a brain tumor as young as four months. She reportedly had undergone 13 brain surgeries in her three years of life.

ABC News reports the unusual way the family found out about the postcards. It all started when Ellie's grandparents sent her and her older sister Ava a postcard of a donkey from Arizona. Ellie finds it cool that she was able to receive a donkey in the mail.

Soon after, the girls started to ask for more postcards from all over the world. So Sarah, Ellie and Ava's mom, took it out on "Prayers for Ellie Walton", a Facebook page for Ellie, to ask for more postcards. Updates about Ellie's journey in battling the big C are posted on that Facebook page.

Blessed, honored, moved. You all stun me. Postcards from all over! They are so happy!

After posting, the response was overwhelming. Since then, they received so many postcards that Ava wanted to put them all over her walls. As of now, they have received cards from across 47 U.S. states and even as far as Germany. Every night, the family shows Ellie the postcards they have collected from the post office box.

It uplifts the spirit of the whole family every time she reads the postcard to Ellie. Ellie particularly likes postcards with pictures of dolphins. Since the cancer treatment has weakened her immune system, Ellie needs to stay in the house indefinitely.

Although the family is hoping to take her on a trip to see the dolphins. To know more about the type of cancer Ellie suffers from, check out the link below:
