A new recent study revealed that overeating and uncontrolled appetite is probably linked to sleep deprivation according to Fox News. The results have shown that a person is likely to eat more if he or she lack some sleep.

As explain further by Mom.me page, your brain produces a chemical called endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol or 2-AG. The effect of this in your brain is it would think that foods are very appealing and it will tell you to eat. This chemical is also found in cannabis herb where cannabis users, whether for medical purpose or not, will feel hungrier than normal.

A lead researcher on this topic from the University of Chicago, Eric Hanlon, said "We know that when you activate the cannabinoid system, it modulates brain reward pathways," he added, "When you activate the cannabinoid system, you are exciting the reward system." This clearly explains why you see foods more appealing.

Parents are at a higher risk of obesity and heart disease because they are the one who are more sleep-deprived because of work and parent duties. The statistics have even shown that more than 75% of Americans are sleep-deprived.

This study suggests that people should have enough hours of sleep if they can. There are many factors that can affect your sleeping habits. Here are some recommended tips to get longer hours of sleep at night.

1.      Keep your room dark or if possible, turn off the lights.

2.      Maintain a temperature that is conducive for sleeping.

3.      Get some exercise 2-3 times a week. A lot of research have proven that exercise promotes good sleep at night.

4.      Follow a sleep routine to get your body clock working normally.

5.      Avoid coffee, or any stimulant food or drinks at night that can affect your sleep.
