'Star Wars' News: Han Solo Finalists Include 'Hail, Caesar,' 'Suicide Squad' And 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' Stars

The "Star Wars" Han Solo film is coming close to finding the young actor that will fulfil prequel requirements for Harrison Ford's iconic role. Among the reported finalists for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film are "Hail, Caesar!" actor Alden Ehrenreich,"Transformers: Age Of Extinction" actor Jack Reynor and "Eddie The Eagle" star Taron Egerton.

Actors who have tried out for the role in the "Star Wars" Han Solo film had been many and varied. Chandler Riggs of "The Walking Dead" fame, Rami Malek from "Mr Robot" and Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in "Harry Potter" are among the interesting candidates for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, besides London candidates Alden Ehrenreich, Jack Reynor and Taron Egerton, a few other secret candidates are also expected to vie for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film. Other names of interest that may still be in the running for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film are "Divergent" actors Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, "Brooklyn" actor Emory Cohen. "Suicide Squad" actor Scott Eastwood and "Fury" actor Logan Lerman are also not completely out of the running for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film.

To date over 2,500 hopefuls have tried out for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film. The selection process is expected to wrap up soon most especially because the new Han Solo is reportedly meant to make an appearance in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Melty reports that Chewbacca is confirmed to join the characters for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film. The back story to the friendship between the co-pilots of the Millennium Falcon will be unfolded in the film.

Han Solo became a household name after "Indiana Jones" star Harrison Ford debuted the role in "Star Wars: A New Hope" in 1977. Chewbacca accompanied Han Solo in his exploits even then. The anticipation for the new actor as well as the "Star Wars" Han Solo film is hardly surprising.

In the meantime, "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is scheduled for a global release this December. On the other hand, the target release date for the "Star Wars" Han Solo film is May 25, 2018.
