Nike Introduces First Self-Trying Shoes

Finally, the futuristic self-lacing shoes are here. American brand Nike has introduced this week a footwear which will save people the hassle of tying and untying their shoes.

USA Today said the company has unveiled on Wednesday the shoes it called Nike HyperAdapt 1.0. This footwear automatically laces when it is worn.

Describing it as a slip on, the same report said the cool shoes can also be tightened or loosened by pressing the buttons near the shoelaces. Another cool thing about it is that it lights up when you wear it.

"When you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten," said Nike senior innovator Tiffany Beers in a press release. "Then there are two buttons on the side to tighten and loosen. You can adjust it until it's perfect."

For his part, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield said the company was able to "make swift micro-adjustments" with this self-lacing shoes. He explained that loose laces have bothered people especially athletes. "That's an important step, because feet undergo an incredible amount of stress during competition," he says.

Nike CEO Mark Parker announced the company's new offering along with other exciting products from Nike which are expected to come out during the holiday season. USA Today, however, said that there is still no price details for the self-tying shoes.

The company explained in its press release that the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is just the initial step of Nike as it moves towards "a future of adaptive performance. It added that the shoes has realized the vision for the footwear which was only earlier seen in movies.

Those wanting to grab a pair of this Nike shoes would need to be Nike+ members before they can avail. Nike said it would be available this coming holiday in three different colors.
