'Avengers' Cast News & Update: Actor Jeremy Renner Set for a Netflix 'Hawkeye' TV Series

While other characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe such as Thor, Iron Man and Captain America get their break with standalone movies, fans are hoping that others such as Hawkeye and Black Widow would, too. But if the movies don’t come, others hope on Netflix.

Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner is no different. ComicBook reports that during his spotlight panel at Silicon Valley Comic Con, Renner was asked if he would be willing to do a Netflix series on the bow-wielding superhero, and responded with enthusiasm.

"I think that's actually a really great model, if there's ever a way to explore the character, maybe it's in that world. These are things that are really not in my control, but I'd be open to it. I've really enjoyed getting to explore the character more recently,” Renner said. “The Netflix model is where all the character drama goes to now, you're doing a superhero movie or a Netflix or HBO kind of model. So I'd be open to it,” Renner continued.

The actor admitted, however, that although he’s open to working on a Netflix series on the character, the final decision is still not his to make. “[It’s] not up to me, though," he said.

Fans will remember that Hawkeye did receive some substantial story time in “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” However, Marvel still hasn’t released a word regarding a Hawkeye solo movie. Scarlett Johansson, Marvel’s Kevin Feige, and directors Anthony and Joe Russo however, would want a “Black Widow” movie, and Renner would want Hawkeye to join her, reports Screen Crush. “In a second. I’d love to do that,” Renner said.

For now, fans can only hope for a Netflix TV series and wait for “Captain America: Civil War” when it releases May 6. Sound off! Would you want a “Hawkeye” TV series on Netflix? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
